How to backup Combin user lists, search and task history

Different reasons and situations may call to backing up Combin data — contents of user lists (Safe, Unfollowed, Hidden) and history of searches and action tasks. They all come down to the fact that account information is lost after logging out within the application.

In case you just need to re-enter your password after changing it or manually refresh information about following/followers count, please don’t log out of your account — use the re-login ability instead(Account > Re-login to %username%). It’s a much safer option that allows updating the information without losing the searches, tasks and user lists.

If you change the computer you used to manage your Instagram accounts within Combin on or there are other reasons for logging out, here is how you can make sure the next time you login, all information remains in tact and you don’t have to fill the user lists and create searches from scratch:

Find the application folder

There are 2 ways to find the Combin folder. The first one is a manual search by the following paths, depending on OS:

Windows: C:/Users//AppData/Local/Open Media LLC/Combin/Combin/

Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/Open Media LLC/Combin/Combin/

Linux: ~/.local/share/Open Media LLC/Combin/Combin

While the method was always performed successfully by Windows and Linux users, Mac users often struggled finding the folder by the above path due to the fact that mac OS has several Library folders by default.

If you are a Mac user and have the same issue, do the following:

Open Finder and the Go menu, then push Option button on your keyboard. Additional ‘Library’ option should appear after that. Click ‘Library’ and find the Application Support folder there, then ‘Open Media LLC’ and ‘Combin’ folders respectively.

The second way to find the application folder is through Combin directly and it’s universal for all operating systems:

1. Quit Combin. Make sure it’s not open in tray/task manager.

2. Launch the application.

3. Press the Alt/Option button on your keyboard 3 times in a row.

4. The ‘Show Data Directory’ option should appear in the Help section of the menu.

5. Click the ‘Show Data Directory’ and the application folder will be automatically opened.

Click the ‘Show Data Directory’ and the application folder will be automatically opened.

Backup the application data

After you find and open the application folder you can do either of the following to backup the data:

Rename the folder from ‘Combin’ to any other name before logging out of the application. After you log back in, quit the application, rename the folder to ‘Combin’ and launch the application.

Find the database file named ‘context.db’ among the log files Combin folder contains, then move it to any other folder/disk on your computer before logging out of the application. After you log back in, quit the application, move the database file to the application folder and launch Combin again.

Click the ‘Show Data Directory’ and the application folder will be automatically opened.

After that the information about the performed searches and their results, previous and current actions tasks, as well as the contents of Safe, Black and Unfollowed lists will be backed up and restored when you login with your Instagram account within Combin.
